Rock Climbing Programs 2008

EQUINOX ADVENTURES is Ontario's oldest and first fully accredited full-time climbing school. 

Equinox offers programs that will teach you how to become a competent climber. All climbing equipment is provided including commercial two-piece harness and friction boots. All courses are taught by instructors certified by the Ontario Rock Climbing Association. We offer the best instructor/student ratios in the industry. 1:6 Beginners 1:4 Intermediate 1:2 on trips. Programs are held on the Niagara Escarpment only 45 minutes from Toronto as well as specialty regional locations across the province. 

Director Paul Sevcik has climbed throughout North America and Europe. He has graduated from the National Mountaineering School in North Wales; is a Level II Ontario Rock Climbing Association Instructor; is chairman of the Instructor Certification Committee; and is the Chief Instructor Trainer for Seneca College's High Angle Rescue Program. 

Introductory Rock Climbing Weekend

Women Only Rock Climbing Week
Ottawa River Camp

Five days of climbing near our Ottawa River Base Camp. Taught by women for women. Enjoy the evenings at our Ottawa River base Camp. There is a climbing wall, campfires, sauna, and more. Meals are included. There are hiking trails and canoes available as well for those who just want to get away after a good day of climbing.

Introduction to Caving

Join us for a two-day adventure exploring the caves of the Niagara Escarpment. We provide headlamps, all technical equipment, and guide. Bring your camera with flash, and be prepared to squeeze, crawl, and rope-walk into another world!

Beginner Rock Climbing Vacation

Rig, Rescue, Rappel, Haul Systems, & Aid Climbing

This is an introduction to high angle rescue and evacuation for climbers. Topics include technical hauling and lowering systems, various rappel and aid techniques, ascending, equipment selection, care, and the systems approach to anchors. Great for preparing yourself for big walls and expeditions!
Prerequisite: Participants must have previous climbing experience.

Pre-Equinox Adventures Rock Climbing Instructor Weekend

This pre-instructor course is designed to prepare potential instructor candidates in technical and teaching methodology and practices. Taught by Level II O.R.C.A. Instructors. Course fee includes a manual, as well as sample testing and evaluation.

If you feel you are ready to teach climbing then come out and get your instructor papers from Ontario's first rock climbing school. Pass or fail course - testing only, no instruction.

Climbing Wall Instructor Course

This course is held in the Toronto area. Successful participants will receive and Advanced Rescue Techniques School of Canada Climbing Wall Instructor Certificate.
Prerequisites: previous experience in multiple belay techniques, climbing 5.6 or up, Standard First Aid Certificate.
